This question came in via the twitter liveblog from someone in Sillicon Valley. "How can the greater tech community support grassroot tech innovation in Uganda?" asked by ksjhalla. Campers in Uganda had a lot of feedback on this issue. Here are the group's responses:

- Wireless Mesh Networking and Rural Wifi Projects are needed.

- A way of collaborating with developers on the ground in Silicon Valley and abroad.

- A local server/repository that keeps current copies of open source software. Internet is too slow and expensive for people (especially students) to get current software.

- No one funds developers here. Local VCs and investors are as blind to local talent as foreign groups are.

- eLearning solutions.

- Support for developers working with multi-media codecs because they often can't get non-commercial and commercial licenses. With no access and no funding to get it they aren't able to create cutting-edge apps.

- More private sector involvement with Mobile providers here.
